During International Women’s Day pupils across the school explored the lives and contributions of many remarkable women.
In Secondary Department, pupils gathered for a special assembly to honor the women who inspire them daily. The event featured heartfelt speeches and presentations.
Pupils’ Tributes to Everyday Heroes
Students shared touching quotes about the women they admire:
- “my teacher is supportive and kind.”
- “my teacher is helping me with my therapy.”
- “my mum is a very good cook.”
- “the best mum ever.”
- “staff are taking me out for trips.”
- “staff are helping me when I’m angry.”
Our work across the school also included exploring the amazing lives and skills of women who have changed history and our understanding of the world:
Jane Austen: An English novelist known for her major works like Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility, who published books at a time when many men were disrespectful of the writing of women.
Florence Nightingale: The founder of modern nursing, celebrated for her work during the Crimean War.
Amelia Earhart: An aviation pioneer and the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean.
Maya Angelou: An American writer, poet, and activist who published and presented many inspiring pieces to remind us how to be strong and brave
Our work during the week was a beautiful reminder of the incredible contributions women make to society, both in everyday life and throughout history.
