Therapies
At John Chilton School we pride ourselves on our quality therapy provision. Our therapies are integrated through the day depending on the needs of our pupils. All staff work flexibly to ensure therapeutic input is the core of what our pupils receive.
Our experienced Multi Disciplinary Team includes Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists from education and NHS backgrounds, all with a wealth of strategies and approaches . This team oversees the provision for outcomes detailed in each pupil’s Education Health and Care Plan. This provision is often linked to the therapy hours allocated for priority areas within this document, which is reviewed annually. We have a range of specialist equipment and resources to support our pupils’ therapy needs.
Therapy is delivered and integrated in different ways:
- Many pupils receive therapy interventions or programmes in small groups or one to one settings, delivered by our specialist therapy teams (Specialist);
- Some pupils’ therapy needs are met through group support for specified time frames, delivered by trained staff that includes class staff or therapists (Targeted);
- Most pupils have therapies integrated into class activities such as positioning and standing(Universal)
Hydrotherapy is offered to our pupils with a significant physical need and led by specialist team.
We also offer Rebound Therapy to many pupils.
Move Programme
We are advocates for the MOVE Programme that promotes opportunities for functional movement and therapy throughout the day.
